To High Tech High person,
Hi, my name is Razan , 15 years of age 16 in December 27th. I live in a town called Barking which is located in South East London (in Essex). Barking is a multicultural society meaning that loads of people in Barking has different ethnicity (mostly Asian) I live with my parents, brother who is 9 years old, sisters one is 10 (she was born in the 27th of December as well) and the other is 16. I love my family. Any way, I originally come from Lebanon which is located just off the east coast of the Mediterranean Sea. But I was born in London. What I do in my spare time, is listening to music (mainly Punk Rock) and I personally cannot live without a computer, T.V, Mobile Phone and a Ipod. Most of the time I’m going through my phone or watching T.V (Watch three never lasting soap operas).
In my spare time, I usually choose to stay home and watch T.V. sometime I like to go round my mate’s house or have them round my house. When I’m bothered, I’m always out and about. Hanging in parks, shops where I have fun. When I’m also bothered, I do my homework after school. I know I’m boring but this is my life
I go to a school called Barking Abbey Secondary School. In school I’m in year 10 (I think that is 10th grade but I’m not sure). The subjects I took are; Textiles, sociology, Child Development, Drama, Geography, Maths, English, PE (Physical Education), RE (Religious Education) and IT (Information technology). Barking Abbey has a specialist sport centre. The statistics last year in GCSE and A Levels were 68% of the people in this school achieved A* -C grades.
The crime in Barking and Dagenham is mostly to do with vandalism, robbing and also stealing cars and maybe illegal drug addicts. Those are the common ones.
Now it’s your turn please answer the following questions.
Who are you and what do you do?
How is education in your area?
What is the ethnic minority in your area?
All about you
Your view about crime
And many more(just go on and on and on)

Hi Razan,
My name is Anna and I am turning 17 this month, on the 20th. I am Filipino-Chinese with both of my parents being from the Philippines, but I was born in San Diego. I live in Sorrento Valley which is a part of San Diego. It's mostly a suburban area, however, the town next to mine is Mira Mesa which is predominantly Vietnamese and Filipino. I live with my parents and my brother who is 12.
What I like to do? Well, I love to travel and am lucky enough to be able to travel through my school to China, Japan, and Mexico and as well as other places with my family. In my spare time, I like to cook and hang out with my friends as much as I can. I also watch soap operas except they are mostly asian dramas like Korean or Japanese. But right now I'm mostly focused on preparing for the application process to go to college this upcoming fall.
In my opinion, our education system in California is lacking. Out of the 50 states we rank 43rd when it comes to education. This is why my parents have never enrolled me into public schools, which are schools funded by the government. High Tech High is considered a charter school and if I had to I would somewhat compare it to a private school since I'm not familiar with the public school system. Our school is very unique when it comes to the way our education is taught (it is project-based) but I think people commented on our school system already on the previous posts.
As for crime, in Mira Mesa, which is close to Sorrento Valley there was an issue with vandalism at this church and gangs at Mira Mesa High School. But I'm not sure if the crime rate is high there. In my area its mostly just houses everywhere and a few parks, nothing really goes on it is somewhat boring. When I go shopping I just go on the freeway to a different area.
I really don't know what else to say about me in particular but I'm interested in the sciences and I wish I could take a class like you are taking in Child Development or some kind of psychology class. I really don't know what else to say but I hope I answered your questions.
- Anna
